CST and "Making" Blood

The school year is off to a great start. Yesterday, I found out your scores and I am still grinning from ear to ear (show not tell). Some of you scored a PERFECT 600! WOW! WOW! WOW! Is all I can say. I am sooooooooooo proud of you guys and gals. I know it took a lot of hard work throughout the year(s), but it sure has been worth it. There is no limit to what you guys and gals can accomplish when you set your mind to it. Just like Grandpa would always tell Willy: "You can do anything you set your mind to." And guess what? I truly believe that. I even had a dream last night in which you were all up on a fancy stage, with a full house, being recognized and awarded some of the highest honors like Nobel prizes in science,  literature, math, medicine...what a beautiful dream.

No on to today's lesson. It was so much fun watching you "make" your blood. Your schema about blood has expanded in leaps and bounds...yippee! I also know(meta-cognition) that you enjoyed eating all the extra jelly beans. I plan to have lots more projects for you all that will help you expand your schema even more.:)

1st Day of 5th Grade!

I am very happy to be in 5th grade with all of you. It is going to be a challenging and very FUN year! I am very impressed with the PowerPoints we have seen so far. You guys and gals sure did a lot this summer. Remember to bring your cameras throughout the year to take pictures of what we are doing, your friends, etc. This way you have a great collection at the end of the year for your memory book/PowerPoint.

Today we did a couple of activities. Take a look and enjoy.

I am so proud!

I was looking through some of our photos from this past school year, and I came across a photo of our last field trip to the California Science Center with our first grade buddies. I was thinking about how good role models you all were to the little ones. They really look up to you. Things may not have turned out like we planned (we were not able to see the 3D film), but we still had an adventure. Every trip we take always ends up having some wonderful memories. I truly enjoyed our trip with Ms. Flores class. Maybe we can still do reading buddies with them as they begin their 2nd grade journey, and as we begin our 5th grade journey.

I still can't believe that you are all now 5th graders. I found another picture where you guys and gals looked so little as 1st graders...boohoohoo...and now look at you all. Some of you are taller than me I think...hmm. I don't know if I like that. J/K

It is getting closer and closer to the 14th (7 more days). I hope you are all ready to be the greatest mighty tigers there ever has been! Don't you fret. I know you guys and gals already are.  See ya soon!
