Jumping Through History

We are truly covering a lot of historical facts and the impact they had in the forming of our Nation. It may get a little confusing because we are covering two different time periods.

Treasures
In Treasures we are covering the Westward Movement and expansion of the young United States. This is people moving from the east to the west during the 1800s. Remember that this became possible for many people thanks to the courageous and adventures expedition of Lewis & Clark with their crew.

Reflections (History)
Our history lessons are focusing on an earlier time period: 1492. We are learning about the early explorers and how they "discovered" new lands, expanded the territories of Europe's kings and queens, and how America was born.

November's Project
Your November project will be tied to early explorers. I am truly looking forward to seeing your projects come to life. We are simulated museum exhibits. I will be giving you the written directions with further information next week. For now, I suggest you start looking into which explorer you are interested in and begin to do some research and/or taking some notes. We will be going over (AGAIN) on taking research notes, quoting, and giving proper credit (bibliography). Your completed projects (tri-fold, writing, & model) will be displayed in the library for students, teachers, and parents to visit. Be prepared to discuss your project orally. This is not something you can complete the weekend before...so start your engines, get ready, and GO!
