Halloween was a lot of fun! The kiddos shared their treats with each other and put all their goodies in their Cool Cat bag.

Here is a short video to share the fun with you!

"Boogie" Juice

Halloween was sooooo much fun! There were so many awesome customs. Some were scary, others, cute, and yet others were very creative. I think we all agree that our favorite was the ice cream man. He was surely adorable.
It is difficult to say what is my absolute favorite Halloween activity, but I must sat that I especially liked making the "boogie" juice together. Now wasn't that concoction delicious? I sure thought so. I am including the list of items so that you can make it again at your house with your family. Don't worry if Halloween is over. You can call it something else and still enjoy a delicious treat. Let me know if you try it again or if you try it with different ingredients.

orange sherbet, pineapple juice, orange soda, and skulls (optional)

 Now doesn't this look scrumptious?

 Yummy, yummy in my tummy!

Yummy Caramel Apples

Yummy, yummy in my tummy. The caramel apples we made today we're delicious! As you were able to see, they are very easy to make.

Steps:
  1. Melt the caramel in the crock-pot on low setting (if already melted, simply warm it up).
  2. Crush some peanuts (or Oreos, chocolate cookies, etc.-be creative).
  3. Dip the apple in the caramel.
  4. Let it sit for about a minute on
  5. Roll it on the peanuts.
  6. Start munching.

I am very glad that you guys and gals had lots of fun. Tomorrow will be even better..."boogie" juice here we come!

Frankenstein Pudding

There are so many things to do throughout the day, that doing "extra" activities seems to be impossible. Since we are so close to Halloween, I thought doing a cookery activity would be an excellent idea. Therefore, today I was so happy to see that you guys and gals came up for lunch to make your Frankenstein Pudding. It was a lot of fun to see you pounding the Oreo cookies. It was also a lot of fun to see the variety and distinct faces you all drew. We have to think of something else to do that goes with November. I'll be awaiting your suggestions...

Monster Slime!

It was so much fun making monster slime. Even though we were having a little trouble at the beginning, we did not give up, and as a result we got our product. Remember you can make monster slime at home.  You need the following items:
  • 1 teaspoon Borax powder
  • 1 cup water and 1/2 cup water
  • 4 oz. (or 1/2 cup) of Elmer's glue (clear or white)
  • food coloring
  • glitter (optional for the white glue)
If you have younger siblings, you can get them excited about science and they will also have a blast. Besides, if you teach it to others, you will be retaining the highest percentage as an active learner.

Spooky Haunted Houses

WOW! WOW! WOW! I LOVED your haunted houses. They were unbelievable. I am still so impressed and proud of you all. I can tell you worked on them. I saw haunted houses with blinking lights, bubbling eruptions, hanging ghosts, glow in the dark figurines, creepy fences, and even a Pandora's box. They were creative, spooky, unique, spectacular, amazing, fabulous, magnificent, top-notch....okay I better stop with the adjectives before it all goes to your head...lol.

You will definitely be ready for projects in middle school with all the practice you are getting now. Keep up the awesome job!

"Vomiting" Pumpkins

Friday's science lesson was super cool! We were able to measure, estimate, and carve out our pumpkins. We also saw how when you combine baking soda (NaHCO3) with vinegar (CH3COOH) they react to produce H2O, sodium acetate, and CO2 which is what causes the fizzing.

NaHCO3 + CH3COOH = H2O + Sodium acetate (CH3COONa) + C02

It was so cool to see the different colored "vomit" coming out from the pumpkins' mouths. This is a great activity for you to try again at home with your family. Try different combinations of baking soda and vinegar to figure out which one gives you the best "vomit". Let us know your results.
