October--Ghost Writing--and more!

October was full of fun learning! The students have been busy writing in their pumpkin notebooks everything they have been learning. We read so many Halloween books, and I know Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman was one of their favorites. 

The students had to do a picture retelling. They came out great!

Another one of their favorites was My First Ghost by Maggie Miller and Michael Leviton.

 

This is truly a wonderful story. The children learned all about what makes a good friend by identifying those qualities in the ghost. They gave examples of how they are good friends and how they can be a "better" friend. The students got to make their own ghost friend and write about what they like to do with their ghost friend as a creative piece of writing.

The students did their own writing, added great details. Their imaginations truly soared.

I want to thank all the families for helping their children with their absolutely, wonderful pumpkin projects. The pumpkin characters were great. The kids really loved talking about heir work. Rachelle's even lighted-up! Take a look at their awesome work.

Halloween Day
On Halloween day the students had so much fun. We did lots of Halloween activities, ate pizza, and then got ready with out costumes. Thank you so much for all your support.


The project for November will go out on 11/4/13 and is due on Wednesday, November 20th. It is connected to a piece of literature that we will be discussing in class together. If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know through writing, email, or phone.

Octubre estuvo lleno de aprendizaje muy divertido! Los estudiantes han estado ocupados escribiendo en sus cuadernos de calabaza todo lo que han estado aprendiendo. Hemos leído muchos libros de Halloween, y sé que Big Pumpkin por Erica Silverman fue uno de sus favoritos.

Otro de sus favoritos era My First Ghost por Maggie Miller y Michael Leviton.

Este es realmente una historia maravillosa. Los niños aprendieron todo acerca de lo que hace un buen amigo a través de la identificación de las cualidades de su espíritu. Se dieron ejemplos de la forma en que son buenos amigos y cómo se puede ser un "mejor" amigo. Los estudiantes llegaron a hacer su propio amigo fantasma y escribieron sobre lo que les gusta hacer con su amigo fantasma como una pieza creativa de escritura.

Los estudiantes hicieron su propia escritura, añade grandes detalles. Dejaron sus imaginaciónes volar.

El día de Halloween los estudiantes se divirtieron mucho. Hicimos un montón de actividades de Halloween, comimos pizza, y luego nos preparamos con nuestros disfrazes. Muchas gracias por todo su apoyo.

 
El proyecto para noviembre se mandará el 11/04/13 y se vencera el miércoles 20 de noviembre. Está conectado a una pieza de literatura que vamos a discutir en clase juntos.
